Pulmonary Diagnostic Center (Pediatric)
The Pediatric Pulmonary Diagnostic Center was established to effectively diagnose breathing problems in children, formulate individualized treatment plans, and evaluate each child’s response to therapies. Unique to National Jewish Health for Kids, the Center offers specialized pediatric exercise testing unavailable anywhere else in the Rocky Mountain region.
Diagnostic Tests:
- Airway imaging
- Allergen skin testing
- Bronchoalveolar lavage testing
- Bronchoprovocation challenges including exercise challenge and methacholine challenge
- Cardiopulmonary exercise tolerance testing by one of the most experienced teams in the country
- Chest imaging including X-rays, computed tomography (CT), and fluoroscopy
- Continuous laryngoscopy during exercise by one of the most experienced teams in the country
- Endobronchial biopsy
- Exhaled gas testing
- Flexible bronchoscopy
- Flexible laryngoscopy
- Laboratory testing
- Lung function testing including lung volumes, diffusion capacity, lung static recoil, and respiratory muscle strength testing
- Nasal biopsy
- Spirometry
- Sweat test
- Testing for steroid resistance or abnormal metabolism of steroids
- Transbronchial biopsy
