Funds Raised at Event Benefit Morgridge Academy for Chronically Ill Children on the National Jewish Health Campus

National Jewish Health held its two-day Golf Classic on Aug. 4 in Denver with a private dinner at Shanahan’s, followed by a beautiful day of golf Aug. 5 at The Sanctuary in Sedalia, Colo. The event, presented by RE/MAX LLC and sponsored by Shanahan’s, raised $170,000 for Morgridge Academy, a free school for 90 chronically ill children located on the National Jewish Health campus.

The much-anticipated annual tournament in its 12th year offered guests delicious food from Denver’s premier steak and seafood restaurant and the challenging and stunning landscape of one of the most exclusive golf courses in the world. A silent auction at the event raised $10,000.

Morgridge Academy for Chronically Ill Children (formerly Kunsberg School) at National Jewish Health provides a safe, friendly and healthy school environment where students succeed academically, medically and socially. Many students are minorities, and most families are at or below poverty level. Typically, these students have fallen behind their peers in school because of illnesses including severe asthma and/or allergies, sickle cell anemia, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other respiratory and related disorders. Morgridge Academy students eat nutritious meals, exercise daily, and practice positive social interaction. Upon graduation, Morgridge Academy students have the skills to lead healthy, productive, meaningful and active lives.
