Patients Needed for Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis) Studies

Skin infections and eczema herpeticum

National Jewish Medical and Research Center is conducting a study to determine why eczema patients are at an increased risk of developing eczema vaccinatum, a severe skin infection that can occur after receiving a smallpox vaccine.

This study seeks a variety of patients, but we are especially in need of patients of any age with a history of eczema herpeticum. Eczema herpeticum involves cold sores or fever blisters in addition to eczema symptoms and is generally treated with the medication acyclovir.

The study will take place over a four-year period and will be conducted at National Jewish Medical and Research Center.  Patients will be compensated for their time.  For more information, please contact Judy Lairsmith at (303) 270-2413.

Eczema Disrupting Your Sleep?

National Jewish Medical and Research Center is seeking adults between the ages of 18 and 60 to participate in a four-week clinical study that will investigate whether symptoms of atopic dermatitis and sleep are improved by the use of a recently approved sleep medication.

Participants must have mild to moderate atopic dermatitis, also known as eczema, that has caused them sleep problems. Qualified study participants will make three visits to National Jewish and will be compensated for their time. For more information, please contact craig Jones at 303-398-1672.
