National Jewish Health Receives Top Accreditation for Continuing Medical Education

National Jewish Health has received Accreditation with Commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).  National Jewish Health has been accredited by the ACCME since the council’s inception in 1984; however, this is the first time that it has received the honor of Accreditation with “Commendation.”

“Receiving this level of accreditation from the ACCME is a testament to the dedication of National Jewish Health in producing impactful continuing medical education,” said Andrea Harshman, Director of Professional Education at National Jewish Health.  “We are extremely proud of receiving this recognition and it is a result of our faculty and their continuous commitment to provide outstanding education to improve patient care.”

This is the highest level of accreditation through the ACCME, and is based on a review of a National Jewish Health self-study report, evidence of performance-in-practice and the accreditation review.  Accreditation with “Commendation” is awarded to providers that demonstrate compliance in 22 criteria and accreditation policies.

The ACCME rigorously evaluates the overall continuing medical education programs of institutions according to standards adopted by all seven sponsoring organizations of the ACCME: the American Board of Medical Specialties, the American Hospital Association, the American Medical Association, the Association for Hospital Medical Education, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Council of Medical Specialty Societies, and the Federation of State Medical Boards.
