Kunsberg Classic Dinner 2011

Golfers from across the nation will gather August 7 and 8 in Denver for the National Jewish Health Kunsberg Classic, presented by RE/MAX, LLC and sponsored by Shanahan’s. Funds raised will go to Kunsberg School,a tuition-free day school at National Jewish Health for 90 chronically ill students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

The two-day event begins with a private dinner on August 7 at Shanahan’s steak and seafood restaurant. On August 8, participants will enjoy at a day of golf at The Sanctuary, the exclusive, world-recognized course in Sedalia, Colorado.

The mission of Kunsberg School, which is mostly supported through donations to National Jewish Health, is to provide a safe, friendly and healthy school environment where students succeed academically, medically and socially. Typically, Kunsberg students have fallen behind their peers in school because of respiratory illnesses including severe asthma and/or allergies, sickle cell anemia, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other disorders.

Kunsberg students receive care and learn to manage their illnesses from three nurses and National Jewish Health pediatricians. They eat nutritious meals, exercise daily and practice positive social interaction. The students learn in small classes from teachers with advanced degrees using the latest educational technology tools; they demonstrate their knowledge by showing steady improvements on the CSAP test and outpacing their peers in similar schools. Upon graduation, Kunsberg students have the skills to lead healthy, productive, meaningful and active lives.
