“A Winter’s Evening” Dinner Dance Breaks Record

Real Estate and Construction Industries in New York Donate to Lung Cancer Care and Research at Nation’s #1 Respiratory Hospital

Members of the real estate andconstruction industries in New York, led by Marc Holliday, Chief Executive Officer of SL Green Realty Corp., raised more than $3 million for lung-cancer research and care at National Jewish Health, during the annual “Winter’sEvening” Dinner Dance December 10, topping the previous best for the event.
 
“Marc told us that he wanted to make this the most successful event ever, and he did,” said Lisa Tadiri, Vice President of Development for National Jewish Health. “It is especially gratifying to see how the real estate and construction industries stepped up to contribute during a still-challenging economic environment.”

Holliday, the evening’s honoree, was presented the National Jewish Health 2011 Humanitarian Award during the event at the Grand Hyatt New York. The Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals who have made significant civic and charitable contributions. They have lived their lives according to a doctrine that promotes the dignity and worth of all individuals. 

The money raised that night will establish the Holliday Memorial Fund for Lung Cancer Research, which provides care for lung cancer patients and supports lung cancer research. The previous fundraising record for the event was $2.57 million.

National Jewish Health has a world-class team of clinicians, researchers and support staff to diagnose, prevent and treat lung cancer. Radiologists and interventional pulmonologists use cutting-edge technology to find andtreat lung cancer at its earliest, most treatable  stages. The 1,300 guests at the Winter’s Eve included luminaries from the real estate industry. Dinner leadership reflects the broad support that National Jewish Health has enjoyed for decades from the New Yorkreal estate community.

The hefty roster of executive and dinner committeemembers was led by dinner chairmen Stephen L. Green and Andrew W. Mathias. Honorary chairman was Morton Holliday.
