Scleroderma Treatment & Research Program

Scleroderma Foundation logoScleroderma is a rare, autoimmune disease that causes thickening and hardening of skin and connective tissue. Systemic (system-wide) scleroderma also can damage blood vessels, muscles, joints and internal organs like the esophagus, lungs, heart, gastrointestinal tract and kidneys.

Though there is not yet a cure for scleroderma, there are treatments to help with symptom management.

The Scleroderma Treatment & Research Program at National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado, is a designated Scleroderma Research & Treatment Center (DSRTC). Our multidisciplinary team includes specialists in rheumatology, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, cardiology, gastroenterology and nephrology, ensuring our patients receive comprehensive care. Our scleroderma treatments are supported by clinical and translational research to help provide the most up-to-date therapies for our patients.

The Scleroderma Treatment and Research Program provides comprehensive care for patients with scleroderma and related conditions. The treatment program includes:
